Dear Wesley Community Residents, Families, Staff and Friends,
On March 25, The Wesley Community was notified that an individual employed at Wesley Health Care Center tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). It is important to note that this individual was not in direct contact with any residents due to the nature of their position. This individual was also not in close contact with other employees due to the nature of their role at Wesley Health Care Center. Their last day of work was Tuesday, March 17.
The New York State Department of Health was immediately made aware of this development. We are working closely with state and local health agencies on all recommended policies and procedures.
Over the last several weeks, The Wesley Community has implemented numerous health protocols to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, including: discontinuing all non-essential visits to the Wesley Health Care Center; restricting visitation to Woodlawn Commons and Embury Apartments; instituting a mandatory screening process for individuals who enter the buildings, including staff; suspending off-campus transportation for activities; adopting a strict masking policy; and continuing to clean and disinfect all buildings on our campus with an emphasis on high-traffic and dining areas.
The Wesley Community understands the critical importance of limiting exposure to the coronavirus and is strictly following all recommended measures by the New York State Department of Health, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to protect our residents and staff during this global health crisis.
