SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Players from the Siena women’s lacrosse team brought cheer to seniors during an ice cream social at The Wesley Community on Friday, April 20.

During the visit, the Siena women’s lacrosse team spent time with residents, shared stories and enjoyed ice cream in the Saratoga Room at Woodlawn Commons.

“I think this is absolutely wonderful,” said Woodlawn Commons resident Eileen Williams. “I have granddaughters and I think it’s terrific to get to spend some quality time with these beautiful young ladies.”

Woodlawn Commons is an independent and enriched living residence on The Wesley Community campus. The senior community offers a robust daily schedule of enriching activities and social events to satisfy a variety of interests including ice cream socials, exercise classes, live music, engaging lectures and various presentations.

“We’ve always been involved with community service but it’s great to be able to take a step back from game and practice mode to do something like this for the residents,” said senior lacrosse player Kaitlin Handley. “It’s a very humbling experience and we’re happy to spend a little time out of our day with these wonderful people.”

The Siena women’s lacrosse team will host Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rival Marist College for their regular season finale on Wednesday, April 25 at 4 p.m.

The Wesley Community is a 36-acre, non-profit agency in Saratoga Springs, NY. The Wesley Community’s unique continuum of care community provides market rate and affordable housing for independent seniors, enriched living apartments for seniors who desire additional support, in-home health care services, short-term rehabilitation and long-term nursing care, as well as outpatient therapies for people of all ages.
