The Wesley Community resumes outdoor family visitations at Wesley Health Care Center
Saratoga Springs, N.Y., October 8, 2020 – The Wesley Community has reinstated outdoor family visitations at the Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs, NY, for the first time since the start of the Covid-19 global pandemic.
On Monday, October 5, Todd Shimkus visited his mother Amy Shimkus in-person for the first time since March. In-person family visitations at the senior care facility had been paused in accordance with New York State health and safety rules and regulations due to the pandemic. Shimkus is the president of the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce.
Wesley has kept families connected during the global health crisis through window visits and online Skype sessions between seniors and their families.
“On behalf of my sisters, Tracy and Trisha, and our entire family, I want to thank all of the heroes at Wesley who have taken such great care of our mom,” said Todd Shimkus. “They’ve kept her safe and healthy while doing everything they can to keep us in contact with her virtually, with window visits and now with socially distanced outdoor visits. We look forward to the day when we can give her a hug and sit right next to her while sharing a cup of coffee and a chocolate chip cookie again.”
