National Skilled Nursing Care Week

NAtional Skilled Nursing Care Week logo

National Skilled Nursing Care Week, formerly known as National Nursing Home Week, is observed in honor of the senior care centers that make a difference in the lives of many across the country. Skilled nursing centers work to provide the best care to seniors and provide them with a happy, safe, and healthy place to live. The theme of this year’s National Skilled Nursing Care Week is “Live Soulfully”, where in we appreciate the happy and meaningful life skilled nurses bring to their residents. This year an emphasis is placed on how nursing homes go the extra mile to help individuals find happiness.

“Wesley is excited to be celebrate National Skilled Nursing Care Week, focusing on “Living Soulfully”. Our goal is to focus on our team members and those that we care for to showcase happy minds and healthy souls. Our first event, “gratitude is good for the soul,” will focus on Wesley’s leadership giving gratitude to our team members who devote their time and passion towards ensuring our residents receive the highest level of care and services. We are sure to have a lively and “soulful” week of fun filled events to engage our entire community.”- Jessica Florio, WHCC Administrator

In honor of celebrating National Nursing Home Week on campus, there will be different activities such as a paint and sip for the staff, special music, and nostalgic games and toys for the residents that are reminders of childhood. Each of these activities is good for the soul and will be attended by staff throughout the week.

Residents and their families were asked what it means to them to “Live Soulfully” and below are some of their responses!

“Family and time with grandchildren and great grandchildren”

“Helping people, being around people, being there for people, being merciful and compassionate to everyone”

“Being grateful and having independence”

They were also asked what activities bring meaning to their life and their responses were as follows,

“Family get togethers”

“Music and dancing”

“Brownies, ice cream and anything with chocolate”

For staff, there are “Living Soulfully – Acts of Kindness” posted that they can take and complete! After doing an act of kindness for others, the staff member will then be entered into a gift card drawing.

There are also profiles of some of the “Souls” that work at Wesley posted. There is then a sheet of questions that can be answered and entered into another gift card drawing.
