January 14, 2021

Dear Embury Residents, Family and Staff:

Embury residents are scheduled to receive the Pfizer Covid 19 Vaccine during a series of clinics to be held here at the facility. To reach maximum protection from the virus, the vaccine requires two doses given 21 days apart. The clinics will be provided by Walgreens on the following dates:

Clinic # 1 on Friday, January 22:  At this first clinic all residents and staff of the Embury Apartments that requested a vaccine will receive their first dose.

Clinic #2 on Friday, February 12:  Residents and staff that received their first dose of vaccine on January 22 will be given the second dose.  Those that missed the opportunity to get the vaccine during Clinic #1 will receive it.

Clinic # 3 on Friday, March 5:  All residents and staff receiving their first dose at Clinic #2 will receive their second dose.

Our Resident Services Team has been working diligently with residents this week completing the required paperwork for the clinics.   Residents are very happy to be able to get the vaccine. And the registration numbers reflect that with 90% of the residents having signed up at this point.

Residents have received information including the Pfizer Vaccine Fact Sheet for Recipients and Caregivers and a flyer from the CDC informing them of a program called V-Safe (strictly voluntary). Should they choose to do the V-Safe Program a smartphone is needed.  Basically, a resident would register with the CDC and they would have a series of health check-ins over a twelve-month period following the vaccine administration.

Residents will be receiving an appointment hour in which to come to the Embury Café for their vaccine. The clinics run from 9am to 5pm.  A vaccine schedule will be placed in cubbies, on bulletin boards and on each floor by the elevators. On the clinic day, it is advised that residents wear a short-sleeved shirt or blouse that allows for easy access to the shoulder area.

Residents must wear masks appropriately over their nose and mouth at the clinic.  Waiting and observation areas will have chairs that are socially distanced, and each chair will be disinfected after use.  Each person receiving the vaccine must stay in the area for 15 minutes to be observed for any adverse reactions.

Embury staff will be there to assist as needed throughout the clinics. If you have any questions, please contact Donna Riendeau at 518-691-1553 or driendeau@thewesleycommunity.org.

Vaccination is such an important step in fighting this virus. We are so grateful to be able to have the opportunity to offer the vaccine to the residents and staff of the Embury Apartments.

Sincerely,

Donna Riendeau RN, BSN
